Parenting really is full of joy and challenge. If your child is gifted, there are some unique issues you may have to deal with. Sometimes your middle schooler may act like, well a middle schooler but sometimes, that same child may act much younger or much older. Also, their math grades and abilities may not have any resemblance to their English grades and writing ability. Specialists refer to this as asynchronous development and it can make life difficult and fun for kids, and their parents and teachers.
I have been looking for a good article about asynchronous development to post on my website, and I finally found (drum roll please), a whole eBook and it's free! The eBook talks about asynchronous development and a lot of other issues too: The Joy and the Challenge: Parenting Gifted Children
